"My family and I thoroughly enjoyed it Being from Ripon, even though we know the stories, the person presenting did a very good job. Thanks again."
Alan Bean, Ripon
The Ripon Ghost Walk is run through Ripon Museums, supported by Discover Ripon and promoted by Yorkshire Trails and Review Ripon as a great thing to do in Ripon. All parties provide their time free of charge with all proceeds donated to the Ripon Museums Trust and funds go to towards general maintenance and in particular the refurbishment of the main block.

Explore the darker side of the historic city of Ripon on this ghost walk, hearing tales of ghouls and ghostly goings on around every corner!
For all walks except the 10th March 2018, meet* at the Cabman's Shelter for a 7:15pm start IF YOU DARE!
*NO NEED TO BOOK - JUST TURN UP!
The Cabman's Shelter is right next to the four red phoneboxes on Ripon Market Square.
Price: Adults £3, Under 16s £1.
The walk will last around 1 hour 35 minutes, finishing back at the Market Square in time to see the Ripon Hornblower at 9pm.
Moira or David A or David W will be your guide along with ghostmaster Tony!
Moira used to be secretary of the Ripon Civic Society and has always had a passion for local history and all things spooky!
David A is a wonderful actor who brings the ghoulish accounts to life!
David W has been an amateur actor for Masham Players and is delighted to join the Ghost Walk team. That's him with the make-up on!
Tony is a Ripon Ambassador and will welcome you, sell you your ticket and make sure everyone is keeping up and happy - and if you're lucky, he might tell a ghostly tale or two himself!
On some nights, you might even be lucky enough to meet Richard at the Workhouse Museum - he'll be in character though so won't answer to Richard on the night!
There's no audience participation on the ghost walks required, just fascinating stories and spooky tales to be heard as you explore the most haunted spots of Ripon!
Of course, any questions and comments you may have are welcome along the way, and if you've ever seen a ghost in Ripon, we'd love to hear about it!
Anyone who wants to hear about the ghostly goings on in Ripon, past and present!
The Ghost Walks are suitable for adults and family groups.
Walks marked 'for kids' are aimed at children aged 6-11 with the stories tailored to this age group.
Discover the unique stories of law and order at the award-winning Ripon Museums - with the Police Museum, Courthouse Museum and the Workhouse, there's plenty to see and do!

Kids Special - Museums at Night:
Do I need to book?
There's no need to book - just turn up! However, if you're coming in a group of more than 10, some advanced warning would be appreciated! Either give us a call or email us, or you can make a private booking just for your group!
Can I bring my dog along?
Friendly dogs are more than welcome. They'll need to be kept on a lead and won't be able to enter the musuems on any museum specials. All we ask is that you're mindful of any children (or adults) on the walk who may be scared of dogs, and take action if your dog does get a little excited and people cannot hear the guide!
Is it pushchair or wheelchair friendly?
The route is suitable for pushchairs with the negotiation of a few steps and alleyways. Our guides are happy to adapt the route for wheelchair users but would prefer advance notice in order to ensure the best route on the night.
More route info please!
We don't want to give too much away, but you will be doing some walking - about 1 mile - mainly along pavements but with some steps and cobbles too.
If you have a group of 10 or more and are interested in Ghost Walk or Saints & Sinners walk just for your group, get in touch.
Our volunteer guides are busy folk so they may not be available but will do their best to accommodate you.
Explore the darker side of Ripon’s history from the macabre to the mysterious! Discover ancient burial sites, curious bone finds and characters who lived and died hundreds of years ago but who some say still linger!
Museums at Night for Kids
A shorter ghost walk with parts inside the museums to discover the gruesome past goings-on within the museum walls!
Saints & Sinners Walk:
What did St Wilfrid really do for Ripon?
Were St Cuthbert and St Wilfrid friends or enemies?
Who was Marmaduke Bradley and why should we care today in the 21st century what he did all those years ago?
Why did Margaret de Brus live her last days in Ripon?
Was John Aislabie a rogue or a genius and did his son, William do good or ill for us all?
What did the Wakeman really do?
A new route exploring a different side to Ripon's history. Come along and all these questions will be answered.
Halloween and Christmas Walks:
Following the same route as the normal Ghost Walk but with some extra themed spooky stories added in - feel free to dress up in Halloween costume or put your Santa hats on!

If you were wondering where the colourful artwork on our Saints & Sinners leaflet comes from, it is taken from a photograph of a mural up in The Arcade, Ripon a couple of years ago.
